When making pottery on the wheel the first step is to center the clay. Slowly and steadily pressure is applied to the uneven mass and the clay conforms to the potter’s hands. The clay is centered when all parts are brought under control and a stillness is reached.
As humans we also sometimes feel the pressures and forces of our lives spinning out of control. We feel the wobble of confusion and need to be drawn back to our spiritual center by God’s hands, back to a place of quietness and balance.
During your 3-hour retreat you will experience the feel of clay in your hands as you make a finger labyrinth and several pinch pots. We will also offer a demonstration of pottery made on the wheel and discuss throwing as a metaphor for our spiritual lives.
Spiritual Retreats will be held 9:00 a.m.-12:00 noon or 2:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m. on Saturdays. The cost of a retreat is a $250.00 fixed fee plus $10.00 for each participating person.
